How to reach Shinta Mani Mustang?
There are a few ways to travel to Shinta Mani Mustang from Kathmandu and Pokhara. Please read below for more information:
Roadway/hiking
The first way you can travel to Shinta Mani Mustang from Kathmandu is by roadway. You can drive from Kathmandu to Shinta Mani. It will take 11 to 14 hours of driving. Some parts of the road are also bumpy, especially when you follow a mountain road.
Travelers who cannot drive this long can divide the ride into two days. First, drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara and spend a night there. The next day, you will drive from Pokhara to Kagbeni via Jomsom.

Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara to Jomsom to Kagbeni (360 km | 12 to 14 hours drive)
Itinerary II
Day 01: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (200 km | 6 to 7 hours drive)
Day 02: Drive from Pokhara to Kagbeni (160 km | 5 to 6 hours drive)
Commercial flights ( Kathmandu to Pokhara / Pokhara to Jomsom)
By taking domestic flights, you can cut your traveling time to/from Shinta Mani Mustang by more than 80%. Flights are short, scenic, and comfortable.

Helicopter flight
Helicopter flight to and from Shinta Mani Mustang is one of the easiest, most comfortable, and most luxurious ways to travel. From Kathmandu, it takes 25 minutes to reach Pokhara by helicopter.
Likewise, from Pokhara, you will fly another 20 to 30 minutes to reach Kagbeni, where Shinta Mani is located.

Is a restricted area permit required for Shinta Mani Mustang?
Shinta Mani is located in the lower Mustang, so a restricted area permit is not required to stay at this hotel. However, if you wish to explore the Upper Mustang, which is a must after staying at Shinta Mani, a restricted area permit is required.

You need three permits if you enter the Upper Mustang.
- Restricted Area Permit for Upper Mustang costs: USD 500 per person for the first 10 days and USD 50 per person per day thereafter
- Annapurna Conservation Area permit cost: USD 30 per person
- TIMS Card cost: USD 20 per person
*Note: A TIMS Card is required if you plan to travel to Jomsom by road. However, a TIMS Card is not required if you fly in and out of Jomsom.
