Climbing Pisang Peak is challenging yet one of the most rewarding peaks with the panoramic view from the summit. So, due to its challenges, this peak was submitted only in 1995 when Germans were the first.
For the Pisang Peak expedition, you have to trek through the popular Annapurna circuit to Pisang village from where you can get the first view of Pisang Peak situated above the village to the north.
The Summit of the peak is equally worth a hard climb as a reward; you can have breathtaking views of Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Gangapurna, and Mt. Manasalu range, Chulu peaks, Tilicho Peak, and beautiful Manang valley.
How difficult is Pisang Peak and what is the route?
Pisang peak climbing is one of the most challenging peaks compared to Chulu East and Chulu Far East and has a success rate of around 85%. So, to climb this peak you need to have good experience of altitude hikes as well as rope handling with an ascender and descending and good physical fitness as it is a physically demanding peak.
The course of climbing starts from the lower Pisang village which climbs steeply on the hill to get to the base camp of Pisang Peak (4400M). Then the climb goes through the alpine pasture to the High camp of Pisang Peak situated at an altitude of 5100M. Hereafter the final climb for the summit begins which scramble up on the rock and
Then to the high pasture to the high camp at 5100M which is the final camp to approach the summit and most of the time it is snowbound. The final go for the summit makes it challenging, which is a straight climb to the west ridge and then following the southwest face on the snow to the top of Pisang Peak.
How much does it cost for the Pisang Peak climbing permits?
The cost of the climbing permits for the Pisang Peak varies according to the season such as in spring (March-May) which costs USD 250 per person. Likewise, in the autumn season (September to November) it costs half of the price which is USD 125. Moreover, it costs even cheaper which is USD 100 during the winter (December -February) and summer (June-august).
You also need to deposit USD 500 as part of the garbage deposit which is refundable at the end as per the Nepal Mountaineering Association rules.
